Our son has been training now for 2 years at Stockport Harriers.  He first started training in the children’s group on a Monday night which was an excellent entry level into Athletics.  Harry wanted to move to the next level of coaching and by chance we met Andrew Mihranian at a Cheshire League competition.   He was the coach in charge on the day for Stockport Harriers.  His huge enthusiasm for athletics and sport in general was one of the deciding factors for joining Andy’s coaching group.  The main points that appealed to both ourselves and Harry was the multi-event approach which means Harry can enjoy a full range of events.  This is certainly something which is important at Harry’s age and sets this group apart from many local groups.

A particular highlight is for Harry to compete at Cheshire League Track and Field, and also the Indoor Sportshall events at Sportcity both for Stockport Harriers and also representing his school at the Primary Schools Cross Country.   One crucial thing for us, is that Harry loves training with this group and as a result he has gone from strength to strength, regularly improving his Personal Best results.  This is as a direct result of the first class training that Andrew Mihranian provides and also most importantly how much fun the children have at all of the coaching sessions.  I would highly recommend the sessions for absolute beginners, children that want to have fun and also to the more advanced budding athletes.

As regular members of Mr M’s Sunday morning sessions, we approached him with our idea of an Athletics party for 8 year olds and asked if he would like to take on the role of party host, which I’m glad to say he accepted.

A mixture of Athletic events( javelin, long jump, relays) and games(rats & cats, shipwrecked and crumb and crumble) resulted in, fresh air , exercise and FUN, FUN, FUN !

With Mr M’s enthusiasm, encouragement and fair play attributes,  the combination of 7 boys and 5 girls were kept interested , focused and well behaved for  1½ hours, only stopping, with protest, to have some party food before they went home.

It was a very enjoyable couple of hours, with all party goers going home having enjoyed themselves and rosy cheeked.

At the girls only sleepover after,  it was voted the best party, with the added bonus for us being that all were fast asleep by 10.30pm!

The group is coached by Andrew Mihranian, Andrew kindly ran an athletics session with 2HG a few months back that all really enjoyed. For our budding athletes out there, the website gives you all the information you need; what they do, when and where.

Andy was fantastic from the moment we enquired about an athletics session.  He worked closely with us and tailored his session into what we wanted.  Andy was brilliant with the children and young people.  He worked with ages from 3 up to 16 and adapted accordingly.  He was full of praise for all the children regardless of their ability and had just the right mix of teaching and practical.  He kept everyone's attention for the full hour and every child said that they thoroughly enjoyed it.  I would wholeheartedly recommend Andy for parties, workshops and taster sessions.  We will certainly be booking him again!
